EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT LAB GROWN DIAMONDS

Lab grown diamonds have been in the news quite a bit recently and we thought it was time to write a blog about them!

Important to know:

Lab-grown diamonds are identical to natural diamonds when it comes to physical, chemical and optical components.

Jewellers even struggle to tell the difference between a lab and natural diamond with the naked eye.

A lab grown diamond is:

- A beautiful alternative to a natural diamond

- Grown in a laboratory using chemical vapour deposition (CVD) or high-pressure temperature (HPT) to mimic the pressure that a natural diamond would experience. This then transforms a carbon seed into a sparkly diamond!

- As hardy as a natural diamond, both measuring a 10 on Mohs scale of hardness. They are in fact, the real deal.

- Lab grown diamonds are likely to be higher in cut, clarity and colour, meaning you get maximum size, sparkle and quality for a fraction of the price that you would in a natural diamond.

- More kind on the environment than a mined diamond would be, a lab diamond requires 250 million joules per carat in electricity whereas mined diamonds require 538.5 million!

- Recognised and certified by the GIA (Gemmological Institue of America) and IGI (International Gemmological Institue)

We love working with both natural and lab grown diamonds. That being said, we do find that YOU are able to receive a much larger and higher quality stone when opting for lab-grown and working within a budget. However, if a natural diamond is what you would like, we can source that for you as well!
